If you want an easy way to balance your beer lines this is the way to do it.  Please be aware that even in the fully open position these FC disconnects do have some inherent flow resistance so you should use either shorter line or larger ID line that you would when compared with traditional ball lock disconnects.

One of the benefits of FC disconnects is you don't need to rely on the small ID or line length to apply flow resistance so it would not make sense to use long lines or small ID lines as well as this is the job of the FC device.

Dimensions: 70mm high

Compatible with our
KL06224 - EVABarrier 4mm ID x 8mm OD line
KL06231- EVABarrier 5mm ID x 8mm OD line
KL42741 - Red EVABarrier 5mm ID x 8mm OD line
KL42765 - Black Lightshield EVABarrier 4mm ID x 8mm OD line
Not compatible with 6.3mm ID x 9.5mm OD line

This is perfect for people who want to serve a large range of beverages with differing carbonation levels as it gives you the ability to adjust resistance easily. Now with the added benefit of duotight fittings built in.

This particular ball lock disconnect has been designed to suit 8mm Beer Line. Due to the integrated duotight fitting the line will simply push directly into this fitting.

If you are often pulling your beer and gas line sideways we recommend the use of the duotight male to female elbow as this allows your gas to swivel 360 degrees without making a kink in the beer/gas line. We have three different sizes available:
KL18449 - monotight - 6.35mm (¼') Female x 6.35mm (¼') Male Elbow
KL18456 - duotight - 8mm (5/16”) Female x 8mm (5/16”) Male Elbow
KL18432 - duotight - 9.5mm (3/8”) Female x 9.5mm (3/8”) Male Elbow

KegLand now manufactures several other duotight ball lock disconnects just like this one to suit several different beer/gas line sizes.  So for different beer and gas line use the following part numbers:
KL24235 - duotight 6.5mm (1/4") x Ball Lock Disconnect - (Black-Yellow/Liquid)
KL24242 - duotight 6.5mm (1/4") x Ball Lock Disconnect - (Grey-Red/Gas)

KL20749 - duotight 8mm (5/16") x Ball Lock Disconnect - (Black-Yellow/Liquid)
KL20756 - duotight 8mm (5/16") x Ball Lock Disconnect - (Grey-Red/Gas)

KL20763 - duotight 9.5mm (3/8") x Ball Lock Disconnect - (Black-Yellow/Liquid)
KL20770 - duotight 9.5mm (3/8") x Ball Lock Disconnect - (Grey-Red/Gas)

This all new ball lock disconnect sets a new bar! The integrated duotight design means you can connect your beer line directly, easily and reliably - no need for additional fittings or clamps. It is a robust and super compact compared to the previous Stainless Steel Flow Control Ball Lock that has been discontinued due to the difficulty in repeated tooling and overall cost of raw materials.

The flow control ball lock disconnect is made from highly chemical resistant materials with stainless springs and ball bearings - no cheap ABS plastics here - this baby is extremely resistant to commonly used chemicals such as phosphoric based sanitisers and caustics.

Why not a flow control tap/devices?

Flow control devices are good but they inherently can create a small amount of turbulence and therefore can cause foaming.  In the past flow control taps have been the only common option.  Flow control taps like these ones are popular however they have the issue that due to the fact they are placed right at the end of the beer line they have no head pressure.  As a result any turbulence created can cause foaming and carbonation to come out of solution.

Flow control ball lock disconnects like these on the other hand have the ability to restrict the flow before the beer enters the beer line so the head pressure created by the beer line keeps the carbonation in solution.  Even in the instance that high turbulence is created the beer will be far more resistant to foaming issues.  For this reason flow control ball lock disconnects like these have significantly better performance allowing you the flexibility to adjust line resistance easily but without the introduction of turbulence that creates foaming. It cannot fix over-carbonated beer, but it can reduce the amount of beer line you would need to pour without excessive foaming.

Some of the features include:

  1. New POK Injection-moulded Design.
Like all new duotights push in fittings that we at KegLand bring to market, all of them are manufactured with polyketone plastic (POK). This aids in chemical resistance, tensile strength, and toughness.
  2. duotight push in
These duotight ball lock disconnects already have the duotight fitting built into the ball lock disconnect. No need for additional threaded fittings. Simply push the beer/gas line in and you are done!
  3. Compact
The worlds most compact ball lock disconnect every manufactured. This new compact form factor is great for tight spaces or fridges where you want to pack as many kegs in as possible. This is the only ball lock disconnect that allows standard ball lock kegs to be double stacked while still connected to beer and gas lines.
  4. Overmoulded Poppet
The overmoulded poppet design means you can couple and disconnect this ball lock disconnect under extreme pressures of 150psi and will never have issues with the o-ring blowing out.
  5. Tool-less Disassembly
Other ball lock disconnects require a tool such as a flat head screw driver or spanner to take them apart for cleaning. The new caps on these allow for easy disassembly by hand, making these easier to break down for cleaning. It's literally never been easier to remove hop particles from your ball lock disconnects.
  6. Extreme Chemical Resistance
No cheap ABS plastic or nitrile seals. This ball lock disconnect is made from stainless spring and ball bearings, with an engineering polykeytone resin body, EPDM and PP/EPDM overmoulded poppet.  This makes this ball lock disconnect resistant to extreme chemicals such as phosphoric and acetic acid, caustic soda, peroxide and many other acid or base chemicals which are commonly used in homebrewing.
  7. Toughness
This ball lock disconnect is more robust than any other plastic ball lock disconnect ever manufactured due to the use of new engineering plastics. Don't be fooled by the small form factor - these bad boys are tough.

Reviews

"Fantastic product dies exactly what they say it does."

Opens up your options

"Works surprisingly well. And fairly compact. Works great with the nuka tap mini"

Luke T. (4/5)

Tall but still fits X1 kegerator with floating dip corny lid

"Got one to test out whether to replace all my QDs and it seems to do the trick with allowing a shorter beer line. Reduced 1 star as the knob is quite stiff when inside kegerator and space is limited between keg and top of fridge. Doesn't solve over carbonation as I found out"

Dav H. (4/5)

So-so flow control

"Not overly happy with the use of these. . the tap part is really hard to adjust, even after disassembling and a good lubing. A great design, but would buy the metal one if it was still available."

Mark J. (3/5)

Great product

"Excellent products. Very user friendly."

Marcus W. (5/5)

Won't release duotight adaptor

"I've got a couple of these brand new and it seems there is no way to remove the duotight adaptor once installed. The collet just won't release it. I've got the 7 way tool that's help you pull the duotight fittings but even with that it just won't let go."

Geoff. (1/5)

Easy to use

"Makes pouring easy!"

J A. (5/5)

Needs a complete redesign. .

"Initially I thought they were a good product. Then one failed and just would not allow flow so I cleaned it thoroughly by pulling it fully apart and it just failed again and again. The only particulate matter was yeast, which had settled. Then another failed in the same manner and then another. This is not a good product. Complete redesign for the pin that provides flow."

David (2/5)

Works well to dial in

"Works well to dial in pour/flow rate and reduce foaming with shorter lines. Can also use it directly on the ball lock post of a mini keg with a nukatap mini for a portable setup!"

Anthony P. (5/5)

Love it

"Fits well, can run short lines, pours perfect"

Q&A

Can I dismantle the whole thing without damaging it to clean the internals?
The new caps on these allow for easy disassembly by hand, making these easier to break down for cleaning. It's literally never been easier to remove hop particles from your ball lock disconnects.
Can you completely shut this off, so I can take of the beer line?
Pretty much. But far better to simply remove it from the post.
